Swim-Run Wetsuit: Swimming and running in the terrain

This sport originated in Sweden, where the archipelago gardens with their many islands offer the best conditions. The aim is to cover a distance on which swimming and running stages alternate several times. For safety reasons, you are on the move in teams of two during competitions. Due to the frequent changes between the two modes, you don't change clothes, but swim with shoes and run in a wetsuit at cooler temperatures. The wetsuit has to meet very special requirements.

The right Neoprene for men

As with open water swimming and triathlon, a good fit and the choice of the right size are very important. A suit for the Swimrun is also characterized by some special features, because you also wear it when running. It usually has a long zipper on the front so that the neck is not constricted when running. You can open it as needed or pull down the top of the suit to cool off a bit on the running track. The integrated pockets can carry sports food and the items required for a competition, such as a whistle and GPS transmitter. Bright colors contribute to your safety.

Buoyancy, protection and flexibility

A Neo for this sport must meet the requirements of both disciplines in the best possible way, which requires compromises. Because although strong neoprene material promotes buoyancy when swimming, it becomes a burden when running due to its higher weight. Furthermore, mobility must not be restricted too much. This is why most suits have long or removable sleeves, but only legs up to the knee. However, pullbuoys or neoprene calves are permitted for additional buoyancy, which makes swimming with shoes easier. For cooler temperatures there are also Neos with long legs and flexible material in the knee area.
